Ethiopia import planning · Updated 2026-05-07

Enter product name, HS code, and CIF price. Get the duty estimate instantly.

Give your customers a public pre-import duty check for customs duty, excise, VAT, surtax, and withholding. The calculator is open to anyone, runs without an account, and chooses the tariff rates from the saved customs snapshot automatically.

Use this before the shipment commits

  • Let the customer check duty without waiting for a login or manual tariff input.
  • Use the saved tariff snapshot to pick duty and related tax rates automatically.
  • Show where HS classification and exemptions still create residual risk.

Check duty from the tariff with just CIF, product name, and HS code

No login. Enter the product name, HS code, and CIF price. The platform chooses the tariff rates from the saved customs snapshot and gives the total estimated duty and tax cost automatically.

How it works

What the customer actually does

This public flow is intentionally simple so a customer can check the duty without logging in or entering tariff assumptions manually.

  1. Enter the product name, HS code, and CIF price.
  2. The platform resolves the tariff line from the saved customs dataset.
  3. The duty, excise, VAT, surtax, and withholding rates are applied automatically.
  4. The total duty and tax cost is returned instantly in the same currency unit as the CIF input.

Result

Estimated duty and border taxes

All amounts below are shown in the same currency unit as the CIF price the customer entered.

Enter the three customer inputs

Add the product name, HS code, and CIF price, then calculate duty.

What is not included

What the customer should still expect outside this number

The public result is strongest for early planning. It does not replace customs filing control or shipment execution costs.

  • Storage, dry port, broker, bank, inspection, and inland transport costs are outside this total.
  • One unresolved raw-code mismatch remains in the source snapshot, so rare HS lines can still need ops verification.
  • If the CIF value is not already in the filing currency, the final ETB payable still depends on the customs FX rate used on the filing day.

Workflow fit

Where this belongs in TradeLink

This calculator is strongest when it sits ahead of booking and customs handoff, not after the file is already moving.

  • Use it during intake to set cost expectations before suppliers are confirmed.
  • Save the duty, VAT, excise, and surtax assumptions into the shipment file once ops verifies them.
  • Turn estimate gaps into visible blockers when the HS code, valuation, or exemption status is still unresolved.
